Rio came to us from Alberta. She's
extremely easy to live with and very laid back in the house. Outside she
never ceases to amaze with her athletic capabilities. Who would have
thought this red girl would take me on so many great adventures?
Rio's super trainability and athleticism
derives from her pedigree that includes three international
champions on her sire's side and the Sagebrush lines on her dam's side.
She is very even tempered and has a sweet personality.
Rio is
the proud mother of twenty-two wonderful puppies. Rio has proven to be a
fantastic mother and loves raising her kids. She tends to pass on her rock
solid temperament and athleticism to all her offspring. We are very proud
of her and all her talented children!
Rio is
retired from breeding in order to spend more time pursuing her agility and
flyball careers.

We're pretty proud of our girl on the
agility field. She never let us down. She finished 4th at both the
2004 AAC National Championships in Montreal and the 2007 Championships in
Milton. In 2008 she had a fantastic showing placing 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the
individual Gamblers and Standard rounds for an overall placement of second place
(Yea! We finally got on the podium!).
Also in 2008, Rio finished second at the
Canada Cup and also was named to the Canadian Agility Team and had the
time of her life competing at the 2008 FCI World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
2009
had Rio named to the FCI team that competed in Austria. She also was
crowned Ontario Regional and Canadian Champion!
2010
brought a trip to the IFCS World Championships in England where Rio earned her
first world medals in Biathlon and Individual Jumpers.
Rio is wonderful to run, she's smooth and very
accurate. It's like driving a high-powered luxury car--a nice change from
the spinning, barking, crashing Piper!

The Canadian Red Dog team of Susan Garrett & Encore,
Lynda Orton-Hill & Spirit and Rio finished in 8th place overall.
This is the best placement ever by any Canadian
Large Dog Team.
Rio's
individual placements in the Agility and Jumpers rounds also were the best
placements of any Canadian Large dog!
Rio loves to race! The faster and
more intense the dog is in the other lane, the faster she goes! She's a
very consistent dog who rarely makes a mistake. Rio plays flyball with the
2006 & 2007 Region 2 Champions Burnin' Rubber.
Watch for Rio's kids racing on Burnin'
Rubber, Touch 'n Go, PDQ, Slipstream, Phoenix Fusion, Unleashed, Leading Edge and FlyBall Insanity.
July 2005
Rio, from day one, has loved sledding.
She's a complete natural in harness and, despite her 35lb frame, she sure
can pull! Rio is tremendously confident running in the lead position
with any partner and has lead our 4 BC team to many top 5 finishes.
The Siberian Husky teams have learned to stop laughing at our little
border collie team when we zoom by them on the trail!
